Not the font, but the grammar.

“colloquial use” I’m afraid. “Parent”/”to parent” has had a noun-verb transition.

Damn. Can’t get that to work as well as Heineken did, huh?

I think yes, but it needs punctuation.
When you drink, never parent.
When you parent, never drink.

“Son, if you don’t stop don't that I’m going to parent the shit out of you.”
No, “parent” is not a verb.

There should be a comma, but yeah, parent is a verb.

God bless Bill Watterson. I was working at Kinko’s when they started their slogan “It’s the new way to office.” Pardon my while I retch.

Hrm...another approach is needed.
Back to Paint.

You said “pardon my” so I will now have a mental image of you as a more erudite Jar Jar Binks.
Just kidding, I make that typo(?) all the time. Left hand fills in words that I’m thinking about or word endings to other words. According to Lewis Carroll, a sign of a perfectly balanced mind.

That’s the
prescriptive
take; the
descriptive
take says parent can be a verb. Some dictionaries have it listed as such, as the second definition, e.g. Merriam-Webster.

how about, “don’t beat your kids, here’s a beer”
![]() 08/22/2018 at 09:51 |

Well in this case, I'm the kid, and if you were in my shoes you'd probably hate him when he swills alcohol.

Too straightforward, I think, but I like it anyway.

Webster is wrong. That guy’s a hack.

Which is why I’m become more lenient about people who write “to” instead of “too” and such like. Our brain can do funny things to us. Of course, that doesn’t remove the responsibility to proof read, and I usually do proof just about everything I type in the Internet. Just not that time.

There’s a good book by Bill Bryson about the English language,
Made In America.
Also,
The Professor and the Madman
is a good read.
I also just generally enjoy Bill Bryson.
